Blank.
2 3/4" high x 3 3/8" wide. Steel body. Brass wheels. I found this
padlock in an antique shop in Hamburg Germany some time in the 1990's. The
shop owner said that it was made by a bored machinist on a cargo boat. It is
apparent that the machinist did not have letter/number stamps. Whether this
story is true or not this padlock is clearly one-of-a-kind. "The Philippe Burguet Collection"

"JOHN SHAW & SONS WOLVERHAMPTON".
2 1/4" high x 2 1/8" wide. Brass body. Brass shackle. Brass wheels. John
Shaw and Mr Crane were in Partnership until 1848. When they split up John Shaw &
sons was formed. The firm continued in the premises at George St. The
combination is St George. The famous English legend of Saint George is of him
slaying the dragon. There seems to be a play on words here. Mfg by: John Shaw &
Sons. "The Malcolm Stokes Collection"
